About the team

SprayLine Road Services is an internal delivery team within the Department of Transport providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DoT, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry.

SprayLine Road Services delivers services locally within the communities and are committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes.
About the Role

The HSEQ & Risk Officer sits within SprayLine Road Services (SRS) and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of safety programs, training, and procedures to ensure Department of Transport's proactive safety culture.

The role will also support compliance with safety obligations and will work closely with the SRS HSEQ & Risk Team.

Key Outcomes

  • Improved Safety Culture
  • The Safety Officer has contributed to a significant improvement in safety culture across the region, working collaboratively with the Health Safety Environment Quality & Risk Team within SprayLine Road Services. This will be achieved through a combination of training staff, information sharing, promoting best practice and conducting audit activities.
  • Compliance assist with safety programs and procedures in the regions that employees and contractors comply with safety legislation and SprayLine Road Services guidelines.


  • Risk Assessments

  • Ensure safety risk assessments are completed for all works by working with project managers and site supervisors to develop their skills


  • Assurance Activities

  • Support and conduct assurance activities in a consultative manner, resulting in improved safety on work sites.


  • Data and Reporting

  • Collate and create data pack for SprayLine Road Services business area's


  • Safety Information Communication

  • Safety information has been communicated within the regions.
  • Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Certificate IV in Work health and Safety or Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (or working towards)
