Security Support Officer - Protective Security Section


Reporting to an EL1 Assistant Director, the APS 5 Security Support Officer will support the APS 6 and contribute to the delivery of the section's security objectives and support the implementation of the department's security framework across the organisation.


  • Support and contribute to a small team responsible for the management of day to day activities of the team and responding to enquiries in accordance with the departments security policy framework.
  • Provide policy advice to noncomplex matters and escalate as required.
  • Have a strong work ethic, flexible cando attitude and be outcome focused and deadline driven.
  • Have a strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering quality results.
  • Have the ability to prioritise workloads and escalate matters where required.
  • Operate a range of security systems and programs to deliver business as usual security services.
  • Have the ability to build and sustain positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have a highlevel of trustworthiness and judgement to handle sensitive and security classified matters with the highest levels of professionalism and discretion.

Security Advisor - Personnel Security Section


The APS5 Security Advisor will contribute to the delivery of the section's security objectives and support the implementation of the Department's security framework across the organisation.


  • Manage and provide support to a small team responsible for triaging and responding to enquiries and requests in accordance with agreed response and escalation thresholds and Heath's security policy framework.
  • Provide riskbased policy advice in relation to noncomplex cases that aligns with the Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • Have a strong work ethic, flexible cando attitude and be outcome focused and deadline driven.
  • Have a strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering quality results.
  • Identify and respond to changing priorities and escalate matters where required.
  • Proactively engage in building positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have a highlevel of trustworthiness and judgement to handle sensitive and security classified matters with the highest levels of professionalism and discretion.
  • Identify and report on emerging security issues, incidents and trends, providing suggested solutions where applicable.
