About the Role;

  • A collaborative leader who blends deep domain expertise with a passion for delivery, continuous improvement and coaching / developing people. You will directly oversee a team of Chapter members, who will be embedded in squads to report to you as their line manager.
  • You will help Agile Delivery Leads grow and develop in their area of expertise and ensure alignment of the "how" of the work they perform in Squads and tribes. This will enable squads and tribes to deliver value, to develop and maintain the standards and quality relating to their capability across the organisation.
  • As a Chapter Lead you will have the opportunity to be involved and influence some of the most fundamental core programs of work for Australia's largest digital retailer through overseeing the delivery of critical programs of work. This might be through playing a Program Management through facilitating planning, delivery and governance at scale across multiple squads and tribes.
  • You will be committed to maintaining and developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest practices and approaches to your role and contributing thought leadership to continuously improve Delivery Standards and Guardrails at WooliesX
  • Overall you will be a change agent for the Agile Transformation & Delivery team, consistently contributing and improving ways of working across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Overseeing, providing feedback and developing Chapter members to improve knowledge and expertise, and better serve Squads in delivering value.
  • Maintaining best in class Chapter expertise in order to deliver the right knowledge and skill sets to Tribes and Squads
  • Actively creating and maintaining the transformation & delivery culture within the Chapter based on the organisations and agile leadership behaviours.
  • Identify resource needs throughout WooliesX and recruitment / resource management across various squads.
  • Discussing Chapter member's development progress and opportunities with the Tribe and other leads as appropriate.
  • Ensuring the "how" of the work performed by Chapter members is aligned with established roadmaps, standards, best practices and other guardrails
  • Sharing relevant insights and developments within the area of expertise with Chapter members and related Chapters
  • Advancing the work based on items in the backlog and prioritise set by the Product Owner
  • Works with relevant stakeholders and Agile Delivery Leads or stakeholders to remove any impediments from tribes, squads and the Chapter function to optimise delivery
  • Support any Agile Transformation Activities across WooliesX, such as new tribe design / launch, squad launch, new product / initiative inception, Big Room Planning (BRP) etc.
  • As required, lead planning and execution of cross tribe / multi squad initiatives and key strategic initiatives.
  • As required, able to plan and oversee strategic initiatives from ideation through to completion through such things as:
  • Defining initiatives requirements and scope to identify capacity requirements quarter on quarter
  • Document inputs / outputs and contribute to key quarterly events such as Quarterly Business Review and Quarterly Investment Council or to input into Portfolio Management
  • Analyse tasks and develop accurate roadmaps to fulfil program deliverables
  • Manage complex dependencies that could be cross squad, tribe, platform or business units
  • Monitor, review and report on program quality and deliverables
  • Actively sharing knowledge and expertise across the organisation with other Chapters, Guilds, etc.
  • Maintaining your own technical knowledge through learning and continuous improvement
  • Modelling behaviours to support the organisation's transformation to a new way of working

What you'll need to succeed:


Knowledge

  • Previous experience as a Agile Delivery Lead and leading projects/programs of work (up to 5 years)
  • People management capability
  • Experience leading teams in digital environments.
  • Familiarity and exposure to multiple Agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum, Tribal, Kanban, SAFe), with an ability to be agnostic of agile frameworks when assessing the most valuable way forward. A
