Description

The Rail Planning Team leads strategic and integrated planning to define, manage and advance delivery of the future rail network in Queensland.

Our objective is to identify rail solutions that promote and support a liveable state and to ensure Queensland's rail network is well-positioned and capable of responding to long term growth, economic priorities and community expectations.

The role will include but is not limited to;

  • Playing a pivotal role in developing the Long-Term Rail Network Strategy, keeping abreast of emerging trends, and distilling the relevant potential challenges and opportunities for both the passenger and freight rail networks. Your ability to review and understand a range of material, while maintaining a bigpicture perspective to ensure project objectives are met, is critical to this role.
  • Working closely with the Manager to help lead a team of skilled professionals and consultants, collaborating across relevant areas within TMR and Queensland Rail. You will be responsible for overseeing and successfully executing aspects of the project. You will also be responsible for driving a culture of performance improvement and efficiency. Your expertise in project management will ensure efficient delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and risk management.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders will be central to your role. By promoting transparent and inclusive communication, you will foster support for our projects and address concerns effectively. You will be a tactical thinker, with a good appreciation of the complexities involved with trying to build consensus.
  • Providing expert advice and briefing material for the Minister, Director-General, General Manager (Transport Strategy and Planning), Executive Director (Transport Planning Projects) and Director (Rail Planning) in relation to the Long-Term Rail Network Strategy. The ability to understand objectives and succinctly justify policy positions to inform leadership and management will be key.
  • Shaping policies that influence rail planning across the state. Your insights into the role and benefits of land use and transport integration, the role of rail in a multimodal network, sustainability, and emerging trends will inform crucial decisions for a greener and more connected future for Queensland. You will also be required to translate vision and ideas into meaningful policy position statements, providing support to ensuring the final product is a cohesive strategy.

Joining the Rail Planning team will give you a down-to-earth working environment with a highly skilled and collaborative team, along with competitive remuneration, training and benefits.

There will be a wide range of opportunities for you to grow and develop your skills and progress your career.

So if you are highly detailed and love working with a dynamic team, this role is for you.
