The Corporate Services Branch oversees the efficient, effective and ethical management of the National Archives' resources. This is done in accordance with the Commonwealth's financial, procurement, employment, security and property legislative and policy frameworks. The Branch supports the workforce, facilities and culture it requires to deliver its strategic priorities and remain sustainable.


The People & Culture section is responsible for developing and implementing policies and strategies to ensure the National Archives' workforce and workplace has the tools and capabilities to achieve our key roles and responsibilities.

The section administers employment arrangements under the National Archives Enterprise Agreement and key services including payroll, recruitment and performance management.

The section also oversees work health and safety arrangements, workforce planning and the delivery of professional development opportunities and frameworks.


The HR Services Manager role works under limited direction to conduct complex, high quality HR services and provide advice to managers and other staff.

They coordinate and respond to complex requests and enquiries by employees, handle escalated cases and provide support to junior staff.


The main duties of the role are to:

  • Supervise a small team and work closely with all HR sections to provide a comprehensive level of HR support to the agency.
  • Manage and coordinate the professional payroll and recruitment activities for the National Archives.
  • Provide regular reporting to employees, managers and the executive.
  • Collaborate with managers and executive staff to identify and manage HR risks, compliance and issues.
  • Create and implement improvements to HR processes in daytoday operations.
  • Adapt and manage HR technologies to support innovation and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor the overall completion of work to ensure quality outputs and information flow is maintained and deadlines are met.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen.

If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
