Seeking an enthusiastic General Paediatrician to join our multidisciplinary paediatric team.

The role is situated at our Melton Health and Bacchus Marsh campuses, and will also work one day per week within the new Infant, Child, and Family Wellbeing Hub for Brimbank-Melton that is under development with our partners IPC Health and RCH Mental Health.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in new service development from the grass-roots, and to help shape the model of care for children in the region.

The Melton region is one of the most rapidly growing municipalities in Melbourne with significant migration in the last few years.

There is a busy paediatric ambulatory service which specialises in the assessment and management of children with complex developmental and behavioural needs.

There is a strong collegiate approach from the multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and physiotherapists and there are ample opportunities for peer discussion.

The unit runs group programs and individual assessment clinics in a collaborative manner, providing Best Care to the children in the western suburbs.

There are strong research links with Monash Health and the MCRI and Royal Children's Hospital and active participation in research and audit is encouraged.

This position will suit a General Paediatrician with a strong interest in developmental and behavioural paediatrics.

The General Paediatrician will also be required to provide care for neonates in the 3 bed, level 3 special care nursery at Bacchus Marsh Hospital.

The maternity service delivers approximately 400 babies per year and the SCN cares for infants from 34 weeks gestation. The unit is serviced 24 hours/day by obstetricians, anaesthetists, and paediatricians. Family accommodation is provided at Bacchus Marsh free of charge for on call periods. General and developmental paediatric clinics are also provided at Bacchus Marsh hospital.

Newly qualified (or soon to qualify) Paediatricians are encouraged to apply. Flexible commencement date. This position consists of permanent appointment and temporary hours.

  • You will have FRACPrecognised qualifications as a General Paediatrician and hold AHPRA specialist registration
  • You will have experience in the assessment and management of complex behavioural or developmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorders
  • You will have a strong commitment to clientcentred care and encourage consumer participation, shared decisionmaking and continuity of care
  • You will contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to respectful collaboration, effective communication, and ethical clinical care within the multidisciplinary team.
  • You will actively participate in teaching and supervision of peers, Junior Medical Staff and medical students
  • You will have experience in neonatal resuscitation and be committed to ongoing inservice maintenance of these skills.
