small federal government agency considered to be a prestigious, much sought after Commonwealth employer.

They are responsible for providing strategic and policy leadership on whole-of-government, shared information and communications technology investments and digital service delivery.

The Opportunity:

There are several opportunities for enthusiastic and capable individuals to fill multiple
APS5 and APS6
Policy Officer positions.

You can be engaged on either a s26 permanent transfer (for APS employees) or a 6-month non-ongoing contract (for non-APS employees).

You will be responsible for contributing to a range of complex policy issues, including developing and implementing major government reforms in the digital policy and identity space


You will contribute to:

Strategy and engagement
  • Support the development of digital strategies and recommendations to support digital transformation across the Australia Government through evidencebased outcomes

Policy

  • Draft whole of government policy, correspondence, communications, briefings, and other requests by providing expert advice and conducting research and analysis on areas of policy

The Role:

Your key responsibilities as an
APS5
or APS6
Policy Officer include:

  • Liaise confidently, negotiate with internal and external stakeholders and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Prepare briefing materials and draft responses to communications received by the department and the Minister's Office
  • Utilise professional knowledge and experience to improve work outcomes
  • Provide secretariat support services, including minute taking
  • Discreetly handle sensitive information, including Cabinet in Confidence information, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping

The Ideal Person:


To be successful in this role, you will need
generalist
APS policy and administrative skills. You don't require previous digital policy, ICT or cyber experience.


You will also have the following skills:

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (written, electronic and verbal)
  • Strong judgement in determining the priorities of the department, and the branch
  • Excellent organisation to work to competing, and demanding, deadlines
  • The ability to be flexible, resilient, and multitask when managing competing and changing priorities in a complex environment
  • Initiative to be able to problem solve and add value by recognising issues, develop solutions and anticipate and respond to the department's emergent priorities_ _
  • You must be an _
    _Australian citizen__ willing to undergo a _
    _police check__ and _
    _Baseline security clearance__ to be successful for this role._

Salary / Rate:


  • APS5: $76k $84k + 15.4% super
  • APS6: $84k $100k + 15.4% super
  • 6month nonongoing contract or permanent s26 opportunity
  • Canberra and Sydney locations
  • Work from home 13 days per week
