About the role
As the Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Associate - Corporate Functions, you will be part of the Workplace Safety and Wellbeing team and will be responsible for providing sound operational direction and advice.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring Council operations within the planning, regulatory, customer facing and corporate areas are appropriately risk assessed with controls in place to assist staff to safely carry out their duties.
- Advising, supporting, and enabling the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and other related systems and processes that achieve safe operating process.
- Providing professional and effective consultation services on safety matters and ensuring participation in safety consultative committees, safety meetings, local team works planning and safety review meetings.
- Providing advice and support to relevant stakeholders to facilitate, develop and embed a positive and sustainable culture of safe practice across Council and encourage involvement in the improvement of all aspects of safety.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- An excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
- Substantial knowledge of WHS risks, incident and injury trends, and the implementation of policy, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance and behaviour
- Substantial knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation related to the provision of Council services
- Substantial verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present information to key stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in safety investigation, audit, analysis, and improvement reporting.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Hold Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator qualification (desirable)

This is a permanent position with an attractive salary package commencing at level 5.1 with an annual salary of $90,018, progressing a level each year with successful performance.
