About the role


The Electrical Engineer - Design Drafter is responsible for the delivery of the electrical design and drafting effort in the Renewables Engineering team, working closely with the Engineers & Project teams to ensure timely, cost effective and fit for purpose drafting output.


You will

  • To prepare engineering documentation as directed
  • To ensure drawings are comprehensively set out and fully dimensioned with reasonable tolerances to facilitate effective construction or manufacture using normally available equipment and processes
  • To endeavour to prepare drawings to budgeted hours and timeframes as directed
  • To perform basic engineering design calculations to facilitate accuracy of detail designs
  • To ensure that engineering documentation is effectively identified and filed
  • Mentor less experienced members of the Drafting team
  • To check the drawings prepared by the other draftspersons when directed
  • To prepare material take offs from drawings as required to assist business development and construction staff
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of BOCAD
  • Review training needs for Engineering team systems
  • Develop mentor and training program for implementation of Engineering systems
  • Check design work for technical accuracy and adequacy
  • Supervise and coordinate multidisciplined design activities
  • Plan the design development process in accordance with company procedures
  • Develop designs in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide technical support to the Business Development Tendering and Operations as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of tenders
  • Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner
  • Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Participate in daily prestart meetings

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (or equivalent) for related discipline or appropriate level of relevant industry experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in detail drafting in the relevant discipline
  • Experience in detailing
  • Experience in a 'Design for Construction' environment
  • Design Drafting related to Power Industry
  • Driver's License
  • Ability to work unsupervised or requiring mínimal supervision
  • Proven Leadership skills
