About the Opportunity
**_ This is a full-time 12 month position (with the possibility of extension). The position location can be negotiated to be connected to one of our Uniting office sites in Sydney. Uniting offers flexible working conditions.
- **The Practice Lead role is responsible for leading high quality and consistent practice approaches both in their area of specialisation and more broadly across the Communities Directorate. The Practice Lead role is responsible for leading program design, developing and implementing practice models and driving change initiatives to best meet the needs of Communities client groups.


The role actively supports and organisational culture that seeks opportunities to improve and proactively identifies potential barriers to achieving outcomes.

The Practice Lead role works collaboratively with all stake holders to find creative and sustainable solutions to problems and contributes to systems, processes, and business improvements for their area of specialisation and the Directorate.

A Practice Lead will analyse complex information, identify interrelationships, and make recommendations based on relevant evidence and translate material for the operational context.

Practice Leads are skilled at navigating the organisation and are able to collaborate across business functions.


This Practice Lead role will support our ambitions in providing the best quality services across programs in our Youth Transitions Portfolio.

This includes Foyer Central, our Extended Care Pilot, Aftercare programs and the Premier's Youth initiative Program, all programs designed to provide positive outcomes to young people with experience of the care system.

**What do I need to succeed?
**You will have at least 10 years' experience in in your field of practice expertise and be a highly organised and motivated leader able to demonstrate your ability to lead, develop and support people in their practice. Including

  • Minimum tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work independently, self
- motivated and proactive

  • High level understanding of and expertise in program design and practice development
  • Demonstrated leadership in a relevant area of expertise, e.g. Homelessness, Youth Work, Leaving and Aftercare, OOHC/Permanency Support Program,
  • Conceptual and innovative problemsolving skills and strategic thinking ability
  • A demonstrated passion for and strong sense of social justice
  • Ability to work in a multi
- disciplinary team

  • Change management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic and collaborative working relationships across business and shared services functions
  • Demonstrated ability to translate research to practice
  • Demonstrated ability to measure the quality of service delivery and use information sources to analyse results
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver professional development to individuals and groups
  • High level understanding of the importance of quality practice/clinical supervision and demonstrated ability to deliver supervision
