Description

The labouring role involves taking bagged, numbered samples of exploration drilling product, transferring them to a tray in an appropriate manner to be scanned by the DA machine, and returning the sample to the bag and then pallet/box/etc.

in the manner that they were received, with attention to detail to maintain sample identification and consistency. These samples will vary in material, ranging from copper and coal to radioactive uranium.

The machine operation involves basic processes and computer skills to follow the procedure of connecting laptop to the digital assay unit and running a program to input the sample details and run a scan of the sample tray, analysing scan images to determine scan image quality and adjust scan settings as required.

It also requires computer skills for collaborating with other teams via the company's online portal to report defects or issues encountered throughout the day.

As samples must be lifted and moved regularly an operator must also be reasonably fit and have a good knowledge of manual handling.
