As a trusted partner, the Safety Lead will coach and develop a team of safety advisors across WA / SA and NT


About the role:


Support and lead a team of safety advisors that partner with the business to increase capability and confidence to integrate safety into our operations.


Provide advice to Regional Managers and other members of State Leadership Team to increase their capability and confidence in creating a positive safety culture, so they can deliver great results across people and food metrics.


You'll also:

  • Be a trusted expert, supporting the State Safety Manager to deliver on the State Safety Plan and key programs.
  • Coach and develop a team of safety advisors to increase their capability and support them to implement regional safety plans.
  • Lead and/or participate in key investigations into serious and or notifiable safety incidents to understand root cause and contributing factors and to develop controls to reduce risk
  • Drive safety improvement and risk reduction in key Regions by reviewing and analysing data and work with Safety Advisors to deliver safety plans and actions.
  • Manage all Regulator issues endtoend, until resolution and build positive relationships along the way.
  • Provide operational expertise into people and food safety systems and participate in selfinsurance and governance audits as required.
  • Accessible on weekends and after hours in event of an serious incidentto support safety advisors and operations team, as required
  • Ability to travel interstate and remote / regional WA to support Safety Advisors and Operations team.

About you and your skills:


  • Degree/post graduate qualification in health and safety or related discipline and/or at least 3+ years of experience in managing risk and providing practical guidance to businesses on implementation.
  • Experience in managing risk and providing practical guidance to businesses on implementation.
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a fast paced and dynamic business.
  • Proven coaching skills of direct team members and leaders with the capability to drive behavioural change.
  • Proven ability to lead a team with strong stakeholder management and highly developed influencing skills
  • Ability to operate under pressure and with autonomy making riskbased decisions to drive performance improvement.
  • Be flexible with working between state office and stores
  • Highest calibre of communication skills.
