Job Description:


Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Mining Operations Superintendent is responsible in leading a dedicated team responsible for the operational performance of the mining operations through the planning, coordination and implementation of all underground mine activities.

In this capacity, the Mining Operations Superintendent is responsible for delivering strategic plan, drive improvement while balancing supply chain demand and ensuring their team safely and efficiently executes mining plans.


Objectives/Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and guidance that ensures the execution of mining operations meet all safety, quality, environmental, regulatory and operational standards requirements.
  • Responsibility for the coordination of underground mine operations, ensuring safe and productive work practices are executed, preparation of planning and scheduling to achieve production targets in alignment with business expectations.
  • Initiate, lead and execute production improvement activities and strategies through frontline leadership and people management of development, production, and haulage streams
  • Coaching and mentoring the Mining Supervisors for continuous improvement and personal development while delivering individual and team production targets through a cooperative approach with the workforce
  • Leading a plan driven organisation while promoting a strong relationship with the technical services team to achieve production deliverables.
  • Evaluating safety and operational performance and driving change to achieve safety, cost and volume targets through processes, equipment, and technology initiatives.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, provide feedback and address employee performance issues in a timely manner to allow them to fulfil the requirements of their position description safely and productively

Qualifications:


  • 10 years industry experience in ideally in underground mining however Open Pit Mining experience is also desirable
  • 3 years in a superintendent type role, proven experience in a similar role with leadership capabilities in relation to high performing teams.
  • A tertiary qualification (mining or similar) or demonstrable industry experience with a background in underground mine development and production.
  • Strong working knowledge of operational mining activities and mine planning processes with demonstrated experience managing operational teams in a mining environment
  • Highly collaborative people leader to provide operational direction to the mining teams to ensure resources, capacity and capabilities are aligned to the mining work plans.
  • Safety focused, proven incident investigations skills, preferably with ICAM experience
  • Proven highlevel planning and prioritization.
  • Strong communication and people skills with the ability to relate to people and levels throughout the organisation.
  • Committed to improving workplace culture through modelling and coaching positive work habits
