Closing the gap on Indigenous health and social outcomes is a priority and GSM aims to produce culturally safe medical practitioners.

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is delivered primarily on two campuses located in Wollongong and Shoalhaven, as well as in numerous rural sites throughout NSW.


We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and energetic individual of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage to support the Associate Professor (Academic Leader, Indigenous Health) to facilitate an integrated Indigenous Health curriculum within the four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.


In this role you will strengthen ongoing links with key local, state and national Indigenous community agencies and organisations, identifying Indigenous Health resources, and helping implement policies for the recruitment, retention and support of Indigenous students within the Graduate School of Medicine.

You will also work closely with the Indigenous Health Discipline within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health and UOW's Indigenous Resource Centre, Woolyungah, along with the multidisciplinary Rural Health Club.

  • As this position will be required to attend Public Health Facilities the holder of this position is required to have completed an uptodate course of a COVID19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Evidence of vaccination is required unless evidence of a medical contraindication to be vaccinated against COVID19 is presented. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID19 Digital Certificate. Proof of vaccination if available. _
