Manager - Cyber Security Operations to help shape the strategic direction of our business.

You will foster meaningful trusted partnerships with Senior Managers and other key stakeholders to constructively advise and drive business and operational outcomes


About the Role


Reporting directly to the Head of Cyber Security, this leadership role is accountable for building risk-based cyber security controls and managing cyber security operations to protect Urban Utilities from current and emerging cyber security threats.


To achieve this, your responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the Urban Utilities technology environment (IT and OT) to ensure cyber security incidents, vulnerabilities and threats are detected, managed, investigated and resolved as per Urban Utilities processes.
  • Providing advice and guidance on cyber security solutions to manage identified risks and ensure adoption and adherence to standards.
  • Developing, maintaining and testing incident response and management procedures in agreement with service owners.
  • Managing the lifecycle of all cyber security controls, enhancing these where appropriate, optimising the total cost of ownership and sustainability, guiding investment decisions and capitalising on potential opportunities.
  • Designing and implementing new cyber security capabilities and other digital innovation across Urban Utilities.
  • Contributing to the development of technology policies, processes, and standards.
  • Implementing and contributing to the design of disaster recovery and contingency plans to ensure the resilience of Urban Utilities business operations.
  • Developing strategic partnerships to maximise the opportunity for enhanced solution delivery, innovation and the exchange of threat intelligence.
  • Leading the Cyber Security Operations team, mentoring team members and developing individual and collective skills.

About you

  • Substantial generalist work experience and comprehensive cyberrelated experience (6+ years)
  • Working knowledge of SOCI Act, ITIL, privacy legislation, Essential Eight and ISO2700x
  • Experience and understanding in working with commercial cyber security operations, including strategy, costing and budgeting, policy and regulation
  • Ability to multitask and provide guidance across various projects at one given time
  • Strong leadership skills and qualities, including possessing the knowledge and expertise to provide guidance to team members on cyber security related matters
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills regarding technology network security, transaction security and malware testing etc.
  • Experience in stakeholder and vendor management, including managing expectations and timelines
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or degree pertinent to technology or equivalent experience.
  • CISSP and/or CCSP qualification(s) desirable.
