Do you have construction, project management, works inspection or contractor management experience? If so, this might be the job for you.

You will work collaboratively with the Project Leader, be their 'eyes on the ground' to support our locally based construction contractors.


You will be 'on site' during the construction of infrastructure assets ensuring work conforms to contract specifications, corporate technical and quality standards and is suitable for acceptance by the Corporation.

Regional travel is an exciting part of this role as most of our projects are in remote regional locations, you could be in the Kimberley one week, Pilbara the next.

While flexibility and a family friendly work environment is encouraged you will also need to travel as it is essential to allow you to provide direct support, coaching and enabling of our regionally based contractors.


As always Safety will be the highest priority for you as you ensure compliance on site is in line with Health and Safety standards.


What the role will involve:


  • Support and mentor identified Contractors during the construction of infrastructure assets and ensure work conforms to contract specifications, corporate technical and quality standards and is suitable for acceptance by the Corporation
  • Collaboratively work with the Senior Advisor Aboriginal contractor engagement to support the overall RAP vision regarding Aboriginal business engagement and procurement
  • Coordinate with the Project Leader, Contractors and Operators to ensure progression of works
  • Review tender drawings to raise constructability issues
  • Assist in prebid site inspections and communicating Water Corporation vendor requirements to contractors
  • Provide mentoring to identified Contractors in relation to inspections, contractor performance, Contractors HSEQ, OSH reporting and quality requirements of the Water Corporation
  • Provide construction knowledge in Project Risk Workshops and Contractor Risk Workshops to ensure Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risks are identified in accordance with the Corporate Risk Management process
  • Communicate construction, fabrication, and quality requirements to the contractor, verify and undertake inspections and tests of the works
  • Ensures compliance on site with all relevant Water Corporation HSEQ standards and specifications. (This includes the hazard and incident reporting requirements.)

Key skills and experience:


  • Ideally, we're looking for someone with either a Project Management or Trades background who has experience in construction contract supervision and quality assurance
  • Mentoring experience will assist you in this role as building strong relationships with our current and future contractors within the community will be key
  • Significant experience respectfully engaging with Aboriginal people/communities and working within remote communities, along with the ability to coach and mentor
  • Understanding of good building and construction practices including relevant Acts and Regulations on construction sites
  • Ability to read, interpret and effectively communicate engineering drawings, plans and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct industry accepted inspections and test procedures
  • A willingness to travel and spend time in remote locations is also a key requirement of this position
  • Current "C" class Drivers licence
