The Role:


An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and skilled Grade 2 Social Worker to join the team at Northern Health Epping.

This is a Full - Time permanent position, 5 days per week, Tuesday - Saturday.


The role is based on the oncology medical ward two days per week and will require working collaboratively with the full time Grade 2 Social Worker allocated to this ward and the oncology outpatient Social Worker.

The remaining three days will require working in a flex capacity on wards and outpatient clinics where the regular Social Worker is on leave or where the demand for Social Work is high.

The Grade 2 Social Worker will provide leadership and ensure high level, evidence-based Social Work services to patients. The worker will need to demonstrate flexibility in order to provide an efficient response to referrals. Social Worker will work closely alongside Allied Health colleagues and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Possess skills to deliver high quality, evidence-based care for patients of the oncology service
  • Provide consultation and work collaboratively with all health professionals
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of community services and programs
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritizing, discharge planning and independently managing complex social situations
  • Have excellent engagement and communication skills.
