Melbourne Private Hospital is seeking an administration professional to join our 38 bed Cardiology Ward in a full time role as a Ward Clerk.

This role will see you working Monday to Friday 07:00am-3:00pm.

About us

Melbourne Private Hospital is a 124 bed private hospital co-located with the Royal Melbourne Hospital in the heart of Parkville, 1.7km from Melbourne CBD.

Our hospital offers highly specialised services including extensive neurosurgery, neurology, advanced coronary care, cardiothoracic, orthopaedic and general surgery.

These services are supported by a 10-bed intensive care unit, 4-bed acute coronary care unit and 6-bed neurosurgical high dependency unit.


As a Ward Clerk your responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting patients, visitors and other customers.
  • Liaising with nursing staff to provide accurate information to relatives regarding timeframes
  • Preparation of patient files and coordination with other Ward Clerks to obtain ward patient files
  • Medical record filing and distribution of discharge summaries, xray and pathology results
  • Providing clerical support to NUM and nursing staff
  • Liaison with allied health, wards persons and other hospital departments when required to facilitate patient treatments or transfers
  • Cultivating a hospitable and friendly environment for all patients
  • Work as an active team member to support all work tasks

Essential Criteria:


  • Authority to Work in Australia
  • Minimum of 1year administration experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a hospital environment (desirable)
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Working with Children check
  • Commitment to service excellence
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work, with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • High level attention to detail
