Manager, Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre
- _Salary:_ _$130,673 - $174,869 (Plus Superannuation)_
- _Fixed term role 28 November 2025_
- _Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)_
- _Usual work location: Barwon South West region (flexibility may be available)_


The Role


Under the direction of the Director, Priority Projects, this position is responsible for managing the delivery of the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, in partnership with Development Victoria and other key stakeholders including the Commonwealth Government.

The responsibilities of the Manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the implementation and delivery of the High Value High Risk (HVHR) Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre Public Private Partnership (PPP) as a key infrastructure project within Geelong region; working with key partners, particularly Development Victoria to ensure the project is delivered to scope, budget and program expectations and meets commitments under the Geelong City Deal.
  • Develop and maintain strong productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate a creative and partnershipbased approach to infrastructure project development and delivery, particularly with a commercial focus.
  • Provide authoritative advice to senior management on complex project issues and solutions and prepare and present detailed reports, business cases, Cabinet submissions, Ministerial briefings, and discussion papers, on time, and that demonstrate an understanding of the policy, political and legal context.

The Team


The position of Senior Policy Officer forms a part of the Priority Projects and Business Performance branch within the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group.


The Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group supports the delivery of the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation portfolios, and the department's emergency management responsibilities.

The Priority Projects and Business Performance branch is responsible for both direct project delivery, and providing enabling services in finance, project management, reporting, program evaluation, workforce, and culture to the RDOR group.


About You
-
Knowledge and Proficiency: Uses knowledge of structures, processes and culture of government, the sector and the Department to develop strategic and tactical responses to project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Project management: Demonstrated ability to consult, liaise with and influence key stakeholders; produce detailed project plans so that objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitor performance against objectives and manage project risks and issues, budget forecasting and payment reconciliation.

Commercial Acumen: strong commercial and financial acumen across a broad range of infrastructure areas with a comprehensive understanding of the Government operating context as it relates to the infrastructure industry.


A relevant tertiary degree in architecture, engineering, legal, accounting, finance or other equivalent commerce discipline, building, construction management or clinical discipline and demonstrated extensive relevant project management/delivery experience would be well regarded.
