About the role


Our foster programs play a critical role in the both the rehabilitation and adoption and rehoming programs at RSPCA, helping to provide animals with the best chance to succeed in finding their "fur-ever" homes.

This new role provides customers utilising RSPCA QLD's adoption and rehoming services with a professional and supported experience.

  • Coordinate the effective and efficient execution of adoption (both internal and external), foster and rehoming programs.
  • Assist the Adoption and Foster Coordinator in ensuring KPIs are met to uplift successful adoption outcomes.
  • Support the provision of the best customer experience for adopters, foster carers, and internal and external adoption partners.
  • Coordinate the strategic distribution of animals and ensure the transferred animals health records and requirements are kept up to date.
  • Facilitate effective working relationships with internal and external adoption partners.
  • Assist with onboarding, training and upskilling of RSPCA staff, volunteers, foster carers, and internal and external adoption partners.
  • Provide pre and post adoption/intake counselling to customers when required.
  • Coordinate foster animal placements with suitable foster parents.
  • Confidently handle animals to assist with adoption processes, foster placements and internal and external animal care duties.
  • Communicate regularly with foster parents and internal and external adoptions partners, and share information with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with social media moderation for RSPCA QLD as part of streamlining customer care messaging.
  • Maintain and uphold a working knowledge of the relevant state legislation, RSPCA procedures and processes.
  • Provide daytoday support to team members and volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain excellent collaborative working relationships with all departments.
  • Provide support to regional shelters, and internal and external adoption partners.
  • Work closely with and support the Adoption and Foster Specialist.

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum 23 years previous experience in a customer focused work environment or similar.
  • Minimum 2 years previous working in an animal care or welfare environment or similar.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate.
  • Demonstrated generalised animal knowledge and handling ability and a desire to continually upskill through professional development opportunities.
  • Previous experience working on adoption and foster programs highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction coupled with exceptional problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the relevant state Animal Welfare legislations.
  • An unwavering commitment to animal health, care and welfare issues and the policies and principles of RSPCA Qld.
This is a part time position, working 18 hours per week
including regular weekend shifts. Remuneration is as per the RSPCA General Enterprise Agreement and commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
