About the role:


As the Group Safety Operations Manager (Learning) you will support the development and implementation of the Coles Group and Retail Safety Strategy, Safety Plan and Risk Profile and ensure that it adequately reflects operational requirements.

You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the Coles Group Training Needs Analysis to ensure it continues to adequately reflects operational risks, and implement and monitor the safety training framework for retail operations that adequately reflects the training needs analysis.

You will drive safety improvement and risk reduction across the Coles Group by reviewing and analysing data to provide insight and learning actions.

Partner with Learning and Development, Support Centre Business Units, Retail Safety Teams, and Manufacturing Safety Teams to deliver and embed the safety training framework.


You'll also:

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic safety plan to ensure Coles Group and Retail business reputation protected and cost of doing business decreases through continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Support the development and implementation of Safety Plans, KPIs and targets to reduce injuries, incidents and cost of workers compensation claims within the Coles Group and Supermarkets
  • Understand who the key stakeholders are, their plans, projects and initiatives, and how safety can add value to their operational deliverables
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Coles Group Risk Profiles and implement programs to manage these risks.

About you and your skills:


  • Sound knowledge, skill and experience in Occupational Health and Safety, and Risk Management.
  • Proven capability in leading teams and partnering with diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Clear demonstration of ability to incorporate safety requirements while considering commercially viable and practical solutions.
  • Proven record of achieving team results and leading change.
  • Proven ability to manage strategic projects across a national network, deliver on time and within cost.
  • Experience working in selfinsurance or AS4801/ISO45001 accredited safety management system.
  • Degree/post graduate qualification in health and safety or related discipline and/or at least 5+ years of experience providing practical guidance to businesses on implementation
