We have an exciting opportunity for an AOD Peer Workers and Head to Health Peer Support Workesr in our new programs in Muswellbrook and surrounding areas.

We are looking for three Peer Workers to join our teams in the Upper Hunter.
One Peer Worker will be a part of a specialist alcohol and other drugs multidisciplinary team based in Singleton and servicing the surrounding communities.
The other two peer workers will be a part of the Head to Health multidisciplinary team based in Muswellbrook with outreach services to Singleton and Scone.
These positions offer people with a lived experience in mental illness and/or AOD dependency a unique opportunity to provide peer support and work alongside our Support Navigators, Counsellors and Clinical Practitioners.

The Head to Health Peer Worker position offers flexible hours from Monday to Sunday and requires the ability to work shifts.

- Certificate IV in AOD, Mental Health or Peer Work, or Diploma Community Services.
- Ability to use personal lived experience of mental illness and/or AOD use to positively support others on their recovery journey and willingness to share aspects of personal recovery experience. This provides a role model for recovery, support and understanding for other consumers.
- Extensive local knowledge of mental health and AOD services and skills in liaising, negotiating and advocating for the people we work with.
- At least 2 years demonstrated experience in the area of AOD and mental health
- Demonstrated understanding of the consumer movement and able to effectively challenge assumptions and promote recoveryoriented principles.
- Developed facilitation and coaching skills to support group programs for individuals, staff and families.
- Welldeveloped organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries while engaging in personcentred work
