Communications Officer, Forward Planning
**An exciting opportunity is available for experience communications specialists to join the NSW Ministry of Health.

  • Employment type: Full-Time, Temporary (up to 2 years)
  • 35 hour working week, in a hybrid working environment

About this role


The communications officers are key roles in the newly formed Forward Planning team, designated to support the NSW Health and NSW Government response to public health priorities.

As a Communications Officer in the Forward Planning team, you will:

  • Deliver and support an annual program of communication activity across communications, campaigns, marketing, engagement and media teams.
  • Support a consistent approach to communications plans, events and initiatives.
  • Maintain an accurate forward plan of communications activity.
  • Produce reports and dashboards and analyse activity to improve communication integration and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across the NSW Health system and other NSW Government agencies.
This role sits within the NSW Ministry of Health's Strategic Communications and Engagement branch.


Crown Clerk 7/8, salary from $101,947 - $112,849 plus Super and annual leave loading

What you'll be doing

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop plans, templates and dashboards (including researching, writing and editing) for a range of communications activities and channels.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an annual calendar and program of work to support the delivery and reporting of SCE projects for the Ministry of Health.
  • Assist in developing and implementing templates for communication strategies targeting identified audiences to support health objectives.
  • Prioritise reporting activities and evaluation of communications activities.
  • Engage stakeholders across the SCE branch and wider system to leverage a consistent approach to delivery and evaluation of health messaging and content to ensure a whole of NSW Health approach to achieving NSW Government objectives.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met.
