Job Summary:

As a Fibre Technician, you will play a crucial role in our technical teams, participating in various activities related to fibre optic network installations and maintenance.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can excel in a team-oriented environment. This role involves interaction with customers and employees at various levels. The position may require night work, travel, and periods away from home.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute fibre technician activities as directed by the Manager.
Install CISCO, CIENA, and Infinera equipment.
Perform cable tray extensions and rack installations.
Conduct fault location and restoration using OTDR testing equipment.
Identify and address potential hazardous situations, prioritizing health, safety, and environmental concerns.
Collaborate within a small work group for jointing/splicing activities.
Report critical delays affecting project delivery to ensure successful outcomes for customers.
Ensure availability and proper maintenance of tools, safety equipment, and materials for timely task completion.
Assist the hauling and civil team when required.
Complete necessary workbooks accurately and independently.
Provide daily progress updates to the Manager, ensuring timely project completion.
Book CMARTs and complete mandatory safety paperwork on a daily basis.
Possess knowledge and understanding of construction drawings.

What you will bring - Mandatory:

Telstra accreditation as a Fibre Technician.
Previous Telstra experience in an exchange/SCAX environment.
Proficiency in Telstra OTDR testing.
Confidence in completing Telstra Optic Fibre workbooks.
Experience working with LOD (Power Racks).
Basic knowledge of SDH links (OM1664/OM1410).
Ability to coordinate daily work activities, including organizing materials and building access.
Comfortable working on Telstra wideband projects.
Familiarity with Telstra technical manuals.
ACMA License with relevant endorsements.
Familiarity with rack and subrack installation inside Telstra exchanges.
Ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment.
Current Australian Driver's License.
Australian citizenship.

Desirable Skills:

First Aid & CPR certification.
Confined Space training.
Basic knowledge and skills in working with copper.
Experience in cable hauling.
Exposure to other carrier networks is a plus.
