ABOUT THE SECTION
The Employee Relations Section is a section within the Human Resources Branch. The Section is responsible for Workplace Relations, WHS, HR Assist, Payroll liaison and Case Management.


The key deliverables for WHS are the updating of Finance's Safety Management System and the implementation of Finance's Health and Wellbeing Strategy.


ABOUT THE
OPPORTUNITY


The Assistant Director, WHS and Wellbeing plays a key role in delivering Finance's health and safety program, early intervention program and health and wellbeing strategy.

The role is committed to cultivating a safety risk management culture and working independently and flexibly.

This involves being pro-active and solution focussed and coaching and influencing to enable safety to be integrated in core business operations.

The role is responsible for managing and leading a small team and is also required to contribute to the work of the broader HR Team.


The key duties of the position include:

  • Manage the development, implementation and review of Finance's health and safety strategic priorities including the safety management system to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and monitor WHS improvement programs to continually improve the effectiveness of WHS and Health and Wellbeing and ensure the achievement of performance objectives.
  • Manage the reporting and investigation of incidents including leading serious incident investigation to ensure appropriate analysis and effective mitigation/prevention of reoccurrence.
  • Manage risk management activities.
  • Monitor and analyse WHS data to identify trends, emerging issues and improvement opportunities and report on WHS performance on a regular basis.
  • Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence, corporate documents, reports, submissions, proposal papers and notes.
  • Lead, coach and manage the WHS Team to produce quality outcomes.
  • Manage the WHS budget and procurement activities in accordance with the Commonwealth finance and procurement processes.
