About our Opportunity


As Draftsperson you will be part of a larger team which is responsible for the successful design, development and implementation of market-leading products into the JELD-WEN business that meets the needs of our customers, sales, manufacturing, technical and onsite service teams.

You will support a range of projects in research and development, including a major project concentrating on the design of thermally efficient windows.

While the main focus of this role will be to produce technical documentation associated with newly-designed products, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in a range of testing activities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Produce technical documentation and drawings and specifications related to new and improved products using 2D and 3D CAD
  • Design and develop components using lean methodologies
  • Work with procurement to facilitate external sourcing of project parts
  • Project manage and report progress to internal stakeholders
  • Develop testing procedures and methodologies on new and existing products considering any relevant standards and requirements (Australian Standards, National Construction Code etc.)
  • Produce test samples and progress product & systems testing to resolve all issues, ensuring compliance requirements are met
  • Design manufacturing layout and conduct manufacturing trials
  • Create and present designs and technical drawings to the project team, stakeholders and suppliers using 3D renders, detailed CAD drawings and physical prototypes

About You:


  • Minimum 3 years' experience in product engineering/drafting
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant experience
  • 2D and 3D CAD systems experience (preferably Autocad and Solidworks)
  • Understanding of statistical methods and tools
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Practical skills related to testing and construction of prototypes
