About the role


To provide high quality People and Performance services and practical advice to the business on a broad range of employment issues with emphasis on understanding company policies and relevant legislation.


This is a pivotal role in a dynamic People, Performance and Culture team that works closely with the line managers and other key internal/external stakeholders to achieve measurable outcomes to the business.


Key Responsibilities

People and Performance

  • Provide a professional, businessfocused people service to the designated business units. Build strong working relationships based on our WECARE values.
  • Work with the People Leads to share best practice and ensure a consistency of approach, as well as covering each other as required
  • Take a coaching approach and provide leaders information to facilitate effective, consistent, empowering people management.
  • Work with leaders to enable them to assume increased responsibility for all aspects of people management.
  • Analyse trends and people metrics in partnership with the People, performance and Culture team and the business to develop solutions, programs and policies to mitigate identified risks or issues, for instance the absence management strategy
  • Provide advice and support to leaders and employees across the company on policy and procedural matters, disciplinary and counselling matters, performance management and the resolution of employee relations issues

Employee Relations

  • Develop, review and tailor company policies in accordance with changes to legislation, identified trends across the business
  • Train staff on company policies (including safety related policies) during induction as well as the all staff annual training sessions and communicate any adhoc changes throughout the year.
  • Coach leaders on policies and implementation across their teams
  • Manage and resolve complex employee/Industrial relations issues and mitigate risks to the business by conducting effective, fitforpurpose and objective investigations.
  • Case manage return to work cases
  • Provide daytoday performance management guidance to leaders instilling positive changes in the management of people and performance improvement.
  • Provide advice, support and counsel to staff on workplace related enquiries/concerns
  • People Metrics analyse metrics such as turnover and absenteeism; and work with leaders to develop strategies to address findings

People Initiatives

  • Work collaboratively with business leaders and PPC team to increase engagement scores across the group.
  • Proactively work to address absenteeism and turnover across the group successfully reducing to agreed strategic KPI's.
  • Provide an engaging and seamless policies training session to all new induction groups.
  • Oversee and champion the PDR process and ensure the leaders are provided with coaching and follow this process.
  • Publish monthly leaders alert across the group to enable leaders to proactively manage their people issues.

About You

Qualifications / Knowledge

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Human Resources or other related discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of workplace policies (Privacy, EEO, Harassment & Bullying, OH&S)

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and coaching others on employment regulations/law, award and relevant legislation
  • Previous experience in the development, interpretation and communication of workplace policies
  • Experience implementing a HRIS (desired)

Capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to interact proactively with our people leaders and team members at all levels
  • Verbal and written communication, including report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and sell the benefits of recommended practices and approaches
  • Strong planning and organising skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle differing priorities
  • Proven ability to collab
