We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Wellness Promoter (Exercise Instructor) passionate about helping empower our clients towards better quality of life through tailored health and exercise programs.


About this role


The Health and Wellness Promoter works under our tested multidisciplinary model of care that has significant, proven benefits for getting our clients onto their best health pathway.


Our model uses a comprehensive assessment battery and case conferencing process to inform targeted prescription, with the client journey culminating in ongoing exercise and service participation.


Key responsibilities of this position would include:

  • working positively and collaboratively with other respite staff and qualified Allied Health practitioners to provide proactive person centred service and support.
- undertaking health assessments with clients to inform evidence based and safe
exercise prescription.
- delivering individual/group based exercise programs onsite in our specially designed Respite Centre gym.
- promoting the benefits of health and wellness through exercise participation and health literacy education.
- considering client social, cultural, language, religious, spiritual, psychological and
medical needs in delivering safe and effective exercise plans.
- working collaboratively with each client to deliver a person centred safe and effective exercise plan tailored specifically to meet their needs, goals and preferences.

About you
We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

  • Certificate IV or higher in Fitness, Sport Science, Human Movement or Exercise Physiology.
  • Current Accreditation with Physical Activity Australia, AusActive or Exercise & Sports Science Australia.
  • Excellent contemporary best practice knowledge of fitness and exercise programs for older adults.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing exercise programs for older people, including people living with cognitive impairment and frailty.
  • Excellent problem solving skills to balance supporting client's desire for independence and self determination to make their own choices against potential risks and duty of care.
  • Exceptional listening, communication and time management skills with the willingness to drive innovative practice.
