Description

Be part of a Local Council as a Coordinator Financial Accounting, you will pay a key part in the budget/long term financial plan, forecast and monthly reporting processes.

6month contract (with a possible extension to 12 months)
Based in Abbotsford, VIC
Pay rate: $ $67.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the integrity of the general ledge, Council's statutory financial reporting obligations and management of Council's accounts payable/receivable systems and processes
Team management
Ensure the internal control environment is regularly reviewed
Manage Council's taxation obligations and cash flow, including investments and borrowings.
Provide leadership to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Accounting teams in the provision of high quality financial and statutory reporting and efficient and effective financial operations.
Work collaboratively across the Financial Services Branch and contribute to the operational success of the Branch and Council

Requirements and Qualifications

Ability to interpret legislation, Acts and Accounting standards.
Taxation knowledge, including Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax.
Experience in developing finance and accounting policy.
Proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems including spreadsheet software.
Understanding of legal, socioeconomic, and political context.
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Financial Management with relevant experience plus post graduate qualifications, or qualifications /experience in another field or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience.
Membership of a recognised Accounting body (CA/CPA).
Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, but not essential.
