The Opportunity

Our Rosehill plant is looking to recruit a Finishing Manager with significant experience leading teams of over 50+ people within a complex manufacturing environment.


This is a hands-on, operational role for a safety leader, with the drive, resilience and tenacity to continually assess the current performance of the finishing department and execute a continuous improvement plan across all facets of manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive best practice safety program around behavioural change
  • Formulate and drive strategy to maximise plant utilisation and output targets
  • Formulate agenda and drive change program to achieve high performance team
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to maximise the output for each process within the department
  • Ensure compliance to James Hardie Finished Goods Specification
  • Drive continuous improvement by thinking and working in an innovative and creative way, and the capability to deliver innovative profitable solutions to the business plan to achieve cash cost targets of department
  • Continually strive to develop skills and knowledge of the fibre cement process and related areas
  • Providing supervision and training to others to allow them to perform their work safely
  • Align department behaviour with the James Hardie mission and values

  • Work in alignment with the James Hardie Zero Harm pledge and workplace safety requirements
  • Report any incidents, hazards, near misses or "atrisk" behaviours
  • Take ownership through participating in health and safety initiatives / activities and training
  • Acting as a safety leader at all times and ensuring yourself and others perform their work safely
  • Responding to any hazard or incident that is raised with you and providing or seeking the support required to respond to the identified workplace issue

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, (Mechatronic or mechanical preferable)
  • 510 years' experience in a complex manufacturing environment in management and process improvement engineer roles
  • Continuous improvement background with a solid understanding of LEAN, Six Sigma and 5S methodologies
  • Proven leadership success with experience motivating, inspiring and cultivating a culture of high performers
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the business
  • Ability to remain positive under pressure
  • An innate desire to achieve and drive for efficiencies
  • A strong results driven orientation
  • Passion and dedication to the advancement of fibre cement manufacturing technology.
