People & Business Services is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for providing business enabling people and corporate services functions, to drive a high-performance culture and to support integrated options.


About the Role


The Learning and Development Support Officer provides day-to-day administrative support to the Department of Transport and Planning's Learning and Development team.

The position provides customer service and builds and maintains effective working relationships across People and Culture, as well as liaising with key stakeholders across the organisation, and external stakeholders as required.


The role is responsible for supporting a variety of initiatives that drive learning and development for all staff including, induction program support, promotion of internal and external training events, administration of DTP's learning management system, and managing the DTP Learning inbox.

This position will also provide support across procurement, intranet page maintenance, and document management.


The Learning and Development Support Officer ensures deadlines are met and liaises with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure priorities including the provision of administrative support, coordination of learning, and all necessary support services are provided in an effective and timely manner.


  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to build and maintain sound relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate tasks, meet tight deadlines, determine priorities, take initiative and work under limited direction while not compromising attention to detail.
  • Experience in contributing ideas and actions towards improving administrative processes to support the effectiveness of own work area and broader team.
  • Ability to accept changed priorities without undue discomfort; Responds quickly to changes; Comfortable working in collaboration with teams outside of own organisation/team.
  • Ability to articulates how work, policies, and services fit into organisation's objectives. Accepts responsibility for own actions and shows commitment to completing work activities effectively.

Position Outcomes

  • Manage the DTP Learning mailbox and respond to enquiries regarding LMS access, course enquiries, basic troubleshooting, program administration, and triage enquiries to the appropriate team member
  • Work closely with Learning Consultants to provide high quality training administration support including LMS Management, training attendance, management of training records, and coordination of face to face (where applicable) programs
  • Promote learning and development programs on our intranet and various other communication channels

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or familiarity with the workings of Government and the role of the VPS in supporting the Government would be an advantage.
  • Experience in the use of Learning Management Systems
