The Role


Reporting to the Head of Risk Advisory in Line 2, the Risk Manager role will support with the implementation of the Enterprise risk frameworks, policies, and processes, including risk management strategy, risk appetite statements and risk management frameworks.

You will provide specialist and trusted risk advice on MLCL's material risk classes, strongly collaborating with and influencing key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Effectively implementing the risk frameworks and policies.
  • Providing insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the Head of Risk Advisory and General Manager, Risk in preparing Board Risk Committee papers and other risk reporting activities.
  • Actively participating in material business projects and providing risk oversight, to drive outcomes that lead to an improvement in the risk environment.
  • Providing active guidance and support to colleagues to foster collaboration, whilst promoting and embedding a mature risk management culture.

About You

  • Significant experience in a Risk, Audit or Actuarial related position.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Actuarial, Commerce, Risk Management, Banking or Finance.
  • Experience in financial services, with specific experience in Life Insurance or other Insurance is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience supporting Risk projects.
  • Ability to analyse information/data and provide recommendations to leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A natural communicator, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence stakeholders.
