The Role

Joint Proof and Experimental Unit Data Acquisition Support Test Officers work within the Joint Proof and Experimental Headquarters supporting guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) test.

Key skill requirements that support the team may include:

  • Technical photography including digital still and high-speed imagery
  • Survey and geospatial engineering
  • Radar operation and ballistics tracking
  • Pressure measurement
  • Analysis of trial results
  • Post processing of imagery

About our Team

This Data Acquisition Support Team directly supports GWEO testing, through the capture and collection of ballistics and explosive test data.

The Team has a range of specialisations including imagery; both still and high speed, radar and survey systems and pressure collection equipment.

The Team is responsible for the establishment and operation of equipment on explosive trial sites including ballistic tracking systems, splash detection cameras and pressure capture equipment.

The team has a dynamic workload spread across a range of responsibilities including the setting up of trial sites, placing equipment to ensure that data is captured, as well as data and imagery post processing for release to customers.

P&EE Port Wakefield has a range of facilities for use by all employees, including the following:

  • Swimming pool and sauna
  • Basketball and tennis courts (24/7 hrs)
  • Gym (24/7 hrs)
  • Rangers Tavern for social events and functions
  • Coffee van each Wednesday morning on base
  • Various eating establishments in the Port Wakefield Township, 6km north of the base
  • Transport assistance Monday to Friday, pick up from RAAF Base Edinburgh to P&EE Port Wakefield (reduced cost for APS employees).


Employment at Port Wakefield also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately $6,640.00 per annum ($255.36 per fortnight).


  • P&EE Graytown has a range of facilities for use by all employees, including the following:
  • Country Club for social events and functions (membership also available)
  • Various eating establishments in Heathcote and Nagambie
  • Transport assistance Monday to Friday, pick up from Puckapunyal to Graytown


Employment at Graytown also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately $3,952.00 per annum ($152.00 per fortnight).
