The Role

In this role you will work under limited direction alongside the APS6 Business Services Manager (BSM) to perform and achieve complex procedural, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce.

This role works very closely with the BSM to deliver business management services to RMC- W stakeholders.


This role is varied, no day is the same, it's exciting, challenging and definitely not boring The responsibilities in this role will be: to oversee and manage the information and corporate records, you will be responsible for ensuring personnel can efficiently access, and modify record information.

Using Defence's Digital Records Management System - Objective, the successful applicant will be RMC-W Workgroup Coordinator.

Office administration duties including:

payment of invoices, credit card creations for general products and services, software license management, external correspondence management, induction and separation of staff, management of Portable and Attractive Assets, and management of internal tasking's (House of Governance).Understudy the APS6 Business Services Manager who manages HR and Workforce planning including recruitment and workforce variations.


About our Team

The Business Management team consists of an APS6 Business Services Manager, this role and an APS4 Business Support Officer (yet to be filled).

Collectively the three-person team provides business (including HR and Workforce management), administrative support to Regional Maintenance Centre - West internal stakeholders.

The role of RMC-W is to ensure our industry partners are providing maritime maintenance to our Navy fleet vessels.

  • Preferred two to three years' experience (but not essential) as an Information Records Officer.
  • Knowledge and a good understanding of national legislation, General Records Authority, National Archives of Australia Disposal Embargoes and Freezes and (Defence policies preferred but not essential) in relation to record management.
  • Experience using a records management system such as Objective (preferred).
  • Experience in being an office manager.
  • Very good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Team player, someone who is keen to work with others.
  • A healthy attitude to learning and willing to step in and perform other duties as necessary.
  • Flexibility to meet changing priorities and tasks.
  • Have very good attention to detail, be organized and be able to prioritise tasks.
