About the role.**:


Our government client is seeking a Scrum Master who has expertise in implementing agile methodologies and scaling them to enhance the delivery and culture for the establishment and development of the Customer & Digital (C&D) Delivery Stream.


Key responsibilities.**:

As a Scrum Master for the C&D Delivery Stream in the digital domain, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Enabling and promoting the Agile way of working within the team and in the broader Delivery Stream.
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to the Delivery Stream on Agile principles and practices to foster team growth and maturity.
  • Instilling the Agile mindset within the Delivery Stream, teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Taking ownership of Agile processes and facilitating continuous improvement within the team.
  • Guiding the team through the adoption of Agile delivery for digital services, from service requests to projects.
  • Identifying and addressing team training needs as required.
  • Facilitating Scrum ceremonies, such as daily standup meetings, sprint planning, showcases, and retrospectives at both the team and Delivery Stream levels.
  • Facilitating the Delivery Stream Level Agile ceremonies, such as Scrum of Scrums, Po Sync, QBR, and Risk and Dependency.
  • Supporting the C&D Delivery Stream Manager to deliver outcomes that meet the needs of the stakeholders.
  • Helping to set up Value Stream teams and Release Trains to enable scaling of Scrum when the Delivery Stream starts operating multiple teams.
  • Assigning tasks to team members to ensure proper backlog prioritization and maintenance.
  • Identifying and resolving roadblocks and impediments to the team's progress.
  • Supporting the team in backlog refinement and maintenance.
  • Ensuring all digital deliverables meet relevant policies and procedures.
  • Providing progress reporting, including standard metrics, risks, and issues at both the team and Delivery Stream levels.
  • Facilitating Delivery Stream level ceremonies, such as Delivery Stream Increment Planning, system demos, and retrospectives.
  • Managing risks and dependencies at the Delivery Stream level to ensure successful Delivery Stream delivery.


This role will report to the C&D Delivery Stream Manager and will work closely with people and groups such as; Program Integration Office, Platform Mangers, Test Managers, Program Architect and C&D Project managers, Managed Service Providers and key business stakeholders across a diverse selection of the department's Branches.


Highly desirable criteria?.**:


  • Previous experience managing the provision of metrics and provide analysis of the value of Agile in delivering products and process to meet strategic needs
  • 5+ years' experience leading delivery teams as Scrum Master/Agile Coach
  • Experience in Kanban
  • Experience in implementing agile ways of working within an ICT BAU/Operations setting
  • Ability to operate in a fastpaced and changing environment and pivot quickly to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Experience in successfully engaging with vendors and working collaboratively with key client stakeholders/representatives and internal ICT support and operational personnel.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology.

  • Strong highly organised leadership skills with a focus on motivating the team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Experience in working with virtual (and shared) team of resources.
  • Highly developed written skills (documentation, communications, and presentations).
  • Ability to move and inspire people with innovative ideas, successfully turning ideas into reality.
  • Strong ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to perceive, manage, understand, and reason with emotions, as a team member, when managing others and when identifying the needs of disparate stakeholders with sensitivity.

Desirable criteria.**:


  • Qualifications in SAFe SPC (SAFe Program consultant)
  • Qualifications in Organisational Change Management
  • Knowledge and/or experience in ITIL
