The Department
The Alfred Health Podiatry Service provides acute and subacute foot care to patients with high-risk foot problems, including ulceration, infection, Charcot foot and acute wounds.
The Podiatry staff work in collaboration with many other hospital departments to provide patient care of the highest standard and take pride in maintaining treatments in line with the latest evidence-based practice.
There is a strong focus on continuing professional development for all staff and research is encouraged.The Position Summary
The Allied Health Assistant is responsible for working within the Podiatry Service at Alfred and Caulfield hospitals to assist therapists in the provision of best practice patient-centred care and support the smooth operation of the Podiatry department through clinical and non-clinical duties.
- Manage appointments on scheduling for new and return patients
- Screen patients via phone or SMS before visits to ensure they are safe/able to attend
- Assist patients into clinics, assist with shoe and dressing removal if needed
- Provide basic toenailcutting services on the wards as referred by the podiatrists
- Assist with triage of inpatient referrals via clinical photography on the wards
- Podiatry instrument processing and auditing
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Allied Health Assistant Certificate IV (Podiatry certification) or equivalent
- Desirable_
- Experience working in acute health settings
- General nailcutting experience
- Experience in general administrative duties
