Program Officer Finance and Analysis

The Role


The Program Officer Finance and Analysis provides advice on and analysis of the financial performance of local governments and business development processes in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1989, the Local Government Act 2020 and related regulations and standards.

The position contributes to the development of policy and other responses to achieve an efficient local government sector, particularly in the area of financial and business performance.

The role will identify, develop and lead sector-wide initiatives to improve local government finances in partnership with key stakeholders. You will form part of a collaborative, enthusiastic and motivated team while working to strengthen local government financial sustainability.


The Team
The position of Program Officer Finance and Analysis forms a part of the Local Government Victoria Group.

This Group is responsible for supporting the Minister for Local Government in the administration of local government legislation, and leads the development of policy, programs and regulatory reform.

The business unit works to ensure Victorians have affordable and reliable access to jobs, services and infrastructure, no matter where they live.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020, local government finances and practices and the relationship between tiers of government
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and financial analysis
