Health Information Services Officer

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic casual Health Information Services (HIS) Officer to join the HIS team.
The casual HIS Officer will be required to work onsite, outside of standard business operating hours during evenings and / or weekends, for an average of 2 to 4 shifts per week (15 to 30 hours).
Reporting to the HIS Team Leader, the duties of the casual HIS Officer will primarily consist of compiling medical records of discharged patients.
Other responsibilities involving the maintenance of medical records will also be required, including:
- Processing of medical records that are collected from wards as well as ordered from our off-site storage facility
- Sorting and filing of medical records in main file in terminal digit order
- Retrieval and delivery of medical records to various wards within the hospital
- Sorting and filing of incoming correspondence, reports and results
- Provision of health information to internal and external clients according to Healthscope's Release of Information policy.
Selection Criteria:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Welldeveloped verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team in a fastpaced environment
- Basic computer skills
- Attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in an administrative role in a health care setting
- Experience with WebPAS Patient Administration System
- Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality principles
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
