Mandatory Qualification / Requirements:


  • You are required to possess a 'C' class driver's licence
  • Possession of a recognised degree, preferably in Social Work or the Behavioural Sciences
  • Employees must be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID19 in accordance with the department's COVID19 Vaccination Requirements.
You must provide one of the following types of evidence for the hiring manager to sight before an offer of employment will be made:

  • written confirmation of COVID-19 vaccination provided as part of the vaccination process, such as a record of vaccine card
- vaccination information displayed on the Check in QLD app
- a COVID-19 digital certificate
- your immunisation history statement
- an International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate for overseas travel

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally appropriate, high quality adoption services for children requiring adoptive families, individuals and families using a range of techniques including assessment, case management, counselling and mediation, consultation, referral, community education, advocacy and liaison. Provide sound advice, consultation and liaison to nongovernment services providing counselling and support services to people affected by adoption. Liaise with clients, members of the public, intercountry adoption authorities and agencies, national central authorities, other Government Departments, departmental staff in relation to inquiries relevant to Adoption and Permanent Care Services. Provide information and advice on casework and practice to assist decisionmaking in matters relating to adoption. Maintain case records consistent with case management requirements, prepare high standard reports, registers, databases and correspondence, and undertake case work within specified time frames. Provide high quality services, information and guidance in relation to securing permanent placements for children in the child protection system and assist Child Safety Service Centres to secure a permanent child protection order for a child to their foster carers. Actively contribute at a high level to a culture of client service, excellence and continuous improvement while ensuring confidentiality is respected and maintained as described in Division 2 of the Adoption Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.

Delegations

This role is authorised under the Adoption Act 2009 and Child Protection Act 1999 and has a range of statutory delegations.

This position reports to a Senior Team Leader.
