NOPSEMA (National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority), is the regulator for Australia's offshore energy industry and has recently expanded its functions to include offshore renewables regulation in its capacity as the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator.

We are currently looking for a Principal Advisor to lead strategic engagement and support regulatory implementation through the provision of guidance and advice to offshore renewable energy stakeholders.

About the role


You will join a Perth based collaborative team of specialists working to establish, implement and deliver the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator.


You will play a key role in developing and delivering strategies and plans to facilitate effective engagement with a wide range of key stakeholders across Government, industry and the broader community.

You will lead and contribute to the development of, frameworks, policies, processes and procedures to support effective regulation in line with the requirements of the
_Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021._

We are looking for an engagement specialist with demonstrated expertise and experience in the following:

  • The development and implementation of strategic engagement programs.
  • Providing advice on sensitive matters including government policy and/or regulation and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex problems to achieve regulatory and organisational objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to build and maintain strong and influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or years' experience in government, regulatory or external affairs or public policy and administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the _Offshore Electricity Act 2021 _and/or offshore industry regulatory frameworks.

  • This recruitment process will be used to fill the role of Principal Advisor on an Ongoing or Non-Ongoing basis for a period of up to 18 months with the possibility of a further extension and/or permanency. This recruitment process will be valid for a period of 18 months and may be used to fill Ongoing (permanent) and Non-Ongoing (fixed term) positions at this level or similar during this period._
