Key responsibilities:


As Intelligence Officer, you will specifically:

  • In collaboration with management, conduct intelligence assessments on security and intelligence matters.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of data and information to produce intelligence products to assist detention centre business units in their planning, operations and client management.
  • Collate and evaluate information.
  • Assist with incident investigations utilising a variety of methods and sources to obtain information including, interviewing young people, evidence collection and reviewing the security recording system.
  • Liaise with other government agencies including the Queensland Police Service and Children's Courts.
  • Assist in contingency exercises conducted by the centre.
  • Produce reports and recommendations addressing issues such as contraband, threat to young people or staff, ethnic or gang related issues within the centre and identified gaps in security.
  • Assist in operational searches of the centre.
  • Selfmanage priorities to meet required reporting time frames and allocate, prioritise and perform tasks in accordance with departmental policy and procedures within a statutory framework.
  • Prepare and submit reports and records using the department's IT system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understand the cultures and issues which impact upon them in today's society.
