Reporting directly to the Head of Group Fleet Planning, Strategy & Investment, this strategic role supports the procurement of the Qantas Group's fleet, demanding comprehensive knowledge of the airline business, aircraft procurement practices, and aircraft/engine technology.

The position holds the responsibility for leading a cross-functional team that develops and executes significant fleet procurement for Qantas Group.

This includes significant commercial and contractual negotiations and maintaining key relationships with major OEMs such as Airbus, Boeing, GE, RR, and P&W.


You will drive the Group Fleet Procurement process, collaboratively delivering fleet acquisition in alignment with the Qantas Group Fleet Plan, optimizing for profitable growth and flexibility.

This requires proficient communication with major stakeholders including senior finance and engineering exectuive teams, ensuring all requirements are incorporated within the Group Fleet Procurement Strategy and related contracts.

Your responsibilities also encompass delivering the Group Fleet Procurement strategy, using Project Management capabilities to ensure alignment with the Group's financial and strategic objectives, while keeping Qantas Group's interests paramount.


To be successful in this role you'll bring:

  • A strong background in multi-disciplinary procurement including contract management, supplier negotiation, risk minimisation, and business case development.-
  • Comprehensive commercial skills, including a solid understanding of financial principles and a keen business acumen.-
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities paired with robust analytical skills.-
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with good interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.-
  • In-depth technical knowledge of aircraft and maintenance processes, along with an understanding of the regulatory environment in the airline industry.-
  • Proven project management skills and a sound understanding of airline operations, and operating methods.
