The Life team provides reinsurance services for the life industry in Australia and New Zealand.

The Life team operates in Retail, Group and Direct markets.

The Group Insurance team works with life insurance clients, and plays an active role in supporting all departments to provide exceptional service to new and prospective group insurance clients.


You will support client-related pricing activities and product changes, through completion of reinsurance quotations (for new business), profitability reviews (for existing business) and assessment of product changes.

This will also include maintenance and enhancement of pricing models. You will report in to the Senior Group Pricing Actuary.


Your Role

Actuarial Analysis
  • Provision of actuarial analysis, modelling, reporting and documentation to support:
  • tenders, pricing of new business including product review term
- repricing of existing business

  • Transactions to increase the existing business, including recaptures
  • PDS, policy, treaty or manual reviews

Modelling

  • Maintain actuarial pricing models to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls and outputs from actuarial pricing models

Technical Reviews
  • Review documentation (e.g. client material such as PDS or policy wording, or MRA documents such as treaties and manuals) for technical accuracy and actuarial analysis of peers

Collaboration

  • Work with internal teams including the wider pricing team, valuations and data transformation team and other departments.

Continuous Development

  • Maintain knowledge of current actuarial developments and developments in the insurance industry, by:
  • Progressing with Institute exams
  • Attending sessional meetings
  • Continuing Professional Development

Your Profile

  • Tertiary degree (major in actuarial studies/science)
  • Progress towards qualification as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance Acts in Australia
  • Familiarity with common life insurance products, including group insurance product features, benefits, pricing, reserving, capital requirement for the Australian markets
  • Experience with current market environment and topical issues
  • Past actuarial/ pricing experience
