About the Role:

A terrific opportunity awaits a talented P-9 Music teacher to join a community-focused school in Williamstown/Altona in 2024 for a full time position starting in Term 2.

This school, serving around 1000 students from years F-12 across three campuses, provides a great opportunity to be part of a wonderful school community.

The school supports both graduates and experienced teachers, offers learning coaching, and great resources.

Key duties:

Planning and delivering engaging music lessons that cater to the needs and interests of students
Creating or following the Victorian curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives, incorporating elements such as music theory, history, performance skills, and appreciation.
Teaching students how to play various musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, recorder, or drums, depending on available resources and student interests.
Introducing students to music theory concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and scales, in ageappropriate ways.
Fostering an appreciation for different styles and genres of music through listening activities, discussions, and exposure to a diverse range of musical works.
Organizing and facilitating opportunities for students to showcase their musical talents through concerts or school performances.
Assessing students' progress and understanding through various means, such as performance evaluations, written assignments, and practical assessments.
Continuously engaging in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in music education and to enhance teaching skills.
Managing musical instruments, resources, and materials effectively to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.

Skills & Experience:

Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
Maintain a valid and uptodate VIT registration
Demonstrate previous experience in teaching primary/secondary music
Ability to provide contact details for two educationbased references from within the last 5 years (studentteacher mentors are acceptable).
