Advisory Officer - Financial Planning

Are you passionate about supporting the people of NSW? We have a unique opportunity for a financial advisor

  • 1x ongoing fulltime opportunity, 35 hours per week.
  • Parramatta location with flexible and hybrid working options available.
  • Clerk Grade Level 3/4. Base salary $75,992 up to $83,211 per year, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

The agency supports the Chief Executive Officer and the Public Guardian to provide customer-centred services to the people of NSW, including some of the state's most vulnerable.

We do this by providing a range of multidisciplinary services including Will-making, estate planning, executorship, trustee, financial management and guardianship services.


We write more than 13,000 estate planning documents each year, support over 47,000 customers annually and manage over seven billion dollars in customer assets.

A NSW government agency within the Stronger Communities Cluster, our services help support and protect people at critical moments in their lives.

About the team
The Legal and Professional Services division provides expert legal, taxation, financial planning, and genealogy services to customers across the entire agency


About the role


The Advisory Officer is responsible for providing support in delivering high quality, timely and customer focused advice and service to clients.


In this role, you will be the first point of contact in responding to queries regarding entitlements and changes to legislation and requirements and you will escalate difficult matters, appeals and significant complaints as required.

You will contribute to improving processes that support the management of client matters.

About you


We are looking for a financial advisor to join our team in the provision of financial planning advice and services.


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and demands.
  • Ability to promote and enhance a positive culture within the team and other staff within NSW Trustee & Guardian.

Essential requirements

  • Understanding of financial planning procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of benefit entitlements and requirements, such as Centrelink and Department of Veterans' Affairs benefits.
  • Understanding of NSW government and NSWTG's key services and client base.
  • All roles in NSWTG require a willingness to have phone calls monitored for quality and training purposes.
