About the Position

  • As Kitchen Hand, you will be responsible for kitchen cleaning duties as well as assisting line cooks by completing food preparation tasks.

This is a casual position, minimum 25 hours per week.

Key Accountabilities

Food Storage and Preparation

  • Store and sort food in the correct manner
  • Receive and sort supplies and deliveries
  • Organise the refrigerator and freezer and defrost meat as directed
  • Wash and chop fruit and vegetables
  • Prepare sauces and marinades
  • Prepare other food for cooking as directed by the chef in charge
  • Follow proper hygienic food handling practices
  • Carry out any other duties as advised from time to time

Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Wash and sort plates, cups, cutlery and cooking equipment
  • Dispose of rubbish and waste
  • Organise the sorting of recycling materials
  • Keep all work areas, cool room, storeroom and rear areas tidy
  • Clean and sanitise all areas of the kitchen, all kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery
  • Sweep and mop all floor areas in the kitchen and corridors leading to the kitchen
  • Maintain the kitchen equipment and plant in good condition

Workplace Health and Safety

  • Comply with Ingenia's WHS Policy and Procedures and any reasonable instructions from any supervisor/authorised representative of the company concerning health and safety matters

About You

  • Knowledge of HACCP and an understanding of how it relates to our Food Safety Program
  • Food Safety Training Accreditation
  • Selfmotivated and proactive team player
  • Well organised and time conscious
  • Good communicator
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Responsive

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting when accepting deliveries, unpacking stock, cleaning and/or moving furniture
  • Operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment / cookers / dishwashers
  • Use of all cooking and cleaning equipment
