_Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist __to join our team at_
_ __Concord Repatriation General Hospital_**We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Palliative Care The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Palliative Care Medicine, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Palliative Care Department and Concord Repatriation General Hospital as required.


The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.

The Palliative Care Staff Specialist will provide high quality specialist Palliative Care medical care and services for inpatients and non-inpatients attending ambulatory clinics.

In addition to carrying a clinical patient load, the Staff Specialist will be expected to supervise junior medical staff, review clinical cases as seen by juniors or trainees and provide senior decision making to support the timely management of patients with palliative and end of life care needs.

The Staff Specialist must be able to undertake research in Palliative Care Medicine as opportunities present and support the development of contemporary and evidence-based Palliative Care specialist services.

In addition, the Staff Specialist must work collaboratively with other members of the clinical team, working effectively within a multidisciplinary environment to provide liaison Consultant Palliative Care Services to promote the palliative care approach.


The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) with recognised qualifications in Palliative Care and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


To be employed by NSW Health, you are required to provide evidence of current immunity status that complies with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy.
