About the Role

The Executive Business Manager (EBM) will be responsible for providing leadership and direction across key areas for Group Risk's (GR) strategic outcomes, specifically focused in the areas of strategy, financial and business management, and supporting the development of the GCRO agenda.

The Executive Business Manager acts as a confidant, advisor and counsel to the GCRO (Group Chief Risk Officer) and operates as a member of the Group Risk Leadership Team.

Working under the direction of the GCRO and with inputs from the Group Risk SLT and the business, the role will be responsible for driving initiatives that support execution of the Group Risk strategy, business management and reporting.


The role will be responsible for providing input into strategic business planning and driving outcomes to ensure delivery of the GR strategy, including developing, implementing, and managing frameworks and oversight of any GR-wide initiatives and processes eg.

annual planning across the function, annual financial budget and financial performance, people and culture, and any special projects as directed by the GCRO.

The EBM will also be responsible for driving operational excellence, effective ways of working and operating rhythm for the Group Risk function.


The role is required to support the GCRO to facilitate effective decision making by bringing together stakeholders to help drive decisions.

The Executive Business Manager supports the GCRO to prepare for both internal and external engagements through appropriate briefings, data analysis, research and insights, and supports the development and finalisation of the GCRO agenda, board papers, presentation packs.


As the key contact point and coordination of the GCRO Office this role manages information flow and ensures effective sharing of information between the Group Risk Team and key stakeholders, while promoting strong cross-divisional relationships to support organisational and leadership effectiveness.


About you

The successful applicant will be a demonstrated analytical thinker with the proven ability to work through complex matters and have the ability to operate at a strategic level, whilst also being comfortable being hands on and able to execute.

You will be a strong and effective communicator in both written and verbal communication whilst also being a strategic thinker with an ability to determine and prioritise immediate and long term priorities to deliver to the strategy.


You will be a connector, with strong influencing skills and a natural collaborator with proven relationship management skills and the ability to work with all stakeholder levels including the Board, EXCO, the broader organisation, internal and external parties including industry leaders, organisational bodies, and regulators.

You will have the proven ability to influence operational performance over the short to medium term.


We are ideally seeking someone who has experience across both financial and non financial risk, preferably from the Banking sector.

this role has been advertised previously and was placed on hold pending the appointment of a new BOQ Group Chief Risk Officer.
