Based at the Mount Barker District Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, you will provide ward-based medical support to the existing Inpatient Medicine Unit.
At present, there are three consultant medical practitioners who provide senior medical input to ward patients on a rotating basis.
Under the supervision of senior medical practitioners, you will be responsible for managing the care of medical inpatients allocated to you in collaboration with nursing staff and allied health professionals.
You will be working over a 5-day roster (Monday to Friday).As part of your role, you will participate in continuing education activities, be involved in continuous quality improvement activities, and support teamwork amongst medical, nursing, and allied health staff for optimal clinical service outcomes.
This position is not currently accredited as a specialist training position. The Adelaide Hills region, and Mount Barker specifically, is one of the fastest growing populations in Australia. Mount Barker is 30km from metropolitan Adelaide and is a rapidly growing peri-urban region.
Holding a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification, you will be eligible for general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Having completed an internship and demonstrating clinical experience working on an internal medicine ward, you will have sound knowledge and understanding of investigations and treatments appropriate to the level of this position.
Along with competency in range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills, you will possess the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their families/carers.
