Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter & Turner with expertise in hydraulic cylinder rebuilds to join our client's modern facility based in Chinchilla, QLD.

As a Fitter & Turner, you will be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling hydraulic cylinders, ensuring they are restored to optimal functionality.

Your technical knowledge and attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

In conjunction with this, you will also lead and mentor the apprentices in the workshop, imparting them with your skills and experience, exceptional communication, and leadership.

The role;

  • Perform disassembly and inspection of hydraulic cylinders, assessing the condition and identifying faults or wear.
  • Evaluate and determine the required repairs, replacements, or modifications needed to restore cylinders to operational standards.
  • Repair and rebuild hydraulic cylinders, following precise technical specifications, engineering drawings, and established procedures.
  • Select appropriate tools, equipment, and materials necessary for the repair and rebuild process.
  • Utilize a variety of precision machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines to perform necessary machining operations.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components, including seals, bearings, pistons, rods, and other hydraulic cylinder parts.
  • Assemble hydraulic cylinders, ensuring accurate alignment and fitment of components.
  • Conduct testing and inspection procedures to verify the functionality and performance of rebuilt hydraulic cylinders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including parts used, repairs made, and testing results.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and technicians, to troubleshoot complex hydraulic cylinder issues.

What you need to have;

  • Exceptional communication, real people skills and the ability to act as a mentor.
  • Trade certification or relevant qualifications in fitting and turning with a focus on hydraulic cylinder rebuilds.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic system principles and components, including cylinders, seals, bearings, and pistons.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, including lathe work, milling, grinding, and drilling operations.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools and instruments to ensure accurate machining and assembly.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting hydraulic system faults.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing highquality work.
  • Strong problemsolving abilities and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.

Salary:
$90, $110,000.00 per year
